Agriculture/Farm

The most recent USDA ag census shows that we have approximately 2,000,000 farms in the US with farmland totaling just over 900,000,000 acres. The challenges farmers face today have never been greater or more complex. Rising input costs, labor shortages, water issues and substantial regulatory hurdles combine to present very real obstacles to our vitally important agricultural complex. While many of these variables are difficult to control, risk management remains a key area of opportunity for ag operations to protect their assets today and for generations to come.
With over 40 years of experience working with family farms, ranch operations, food processors and distributors our team is active in developing tailored insurance programs aligned with your unique risk tolerance and business operations. We also actively support our ag client’s safety efforts surrounding their employees, facilities, food products and cyber presence. Our goal is to help you prevent the loss before it occurs. If the accident or incident does occur, our claims team will assist you every step of the way to help provide as smooth a claim resolution experience as possible.

Vineyard

It's more than just grapes. It’s taking care of a way of life.

The Pacific Northwest has achieved national acclaim for the quality of wine grapes grown and the beautiful wines produced in our region. Growing grapes and making wine present numerous challenges and require years of experience to master. Insuring vineyards and wineries also require a deeply experienced risk management partner who understands the nuances to produce a perfectly balanced insurance program. Our team is here to help you protect the vineyard and/or winery operation you’ve worked so hard to build.
In the last decade, the number of wineries in Washington boomed from 650 to just under 1,000. And the amount of grapes crushed rose from 156,000 tons in 2009 to 229,000 tons in 2017.

All that’s to say, vineyards are expanding and the amount of complexity in their day-to-day operations isn’t getting any easier. Every vineyard, winery and custom crush operation is unique with its own set of unique risks. Our approach is to look at each one holistically, from insuring the crop to offering contract review to providing workers’ comp all the way down.

Jaime has been around agriculture his entire life, as he is a product of the Yakima Valley, having grown up in Toppenish, Washington. Tyson Baker

Tyson is a risk manager and insurance broker. He focuses on the agribusiness sector with a specialization in the Dairy Revenue Protection Program, crop insurance and business insurance programs for the agribusiness and construction industries.

Dairy

We’ve partnered with dairies for decades with risk management and insurance solutions.

The modern dairy business is more challenging than ever. High input costs, environmental challenges, commodity price risk and labor challenges are just a few of the obstacles in the path to success for dairies today. Our dairy team has family heritage in the dairy industry and many years of experience navigating the complex risk management and insurance landscape for dairies.

Dairy revenue protection brings certainty to the unknown.

Dairy farming is a demanding profession with razor-thin profit margins and you wouldn’t necessarily think that something like milk could be considered volatile, but the dairy market most certainly is.

That’s where Dairy Revenue Protection comes in. Think of it like crop insurance for milk prices. Working with the American Farm Bureau Federation and American Farm Bureau Insurance Services, we’ve put together a program to protect dairies from market price fluctuation.

From Tyson Baker, Dairy Specialist:

“The old federal Margin Protection Plan was a big flop and left a lot of farmers with a bad taste in their mouth. Dairy RP gives you crop insurance for milk price, and locks in a price that you hope you’ll never have to sell at, but ultimately could save a farm from ruin if the market falls.”
