Fred has been in the insurance and bonding industry since 1977, having started during college. At Montana State University, Fred served as student body president and graduated in 1981 with a degree in business finance. Fred is part of MMA’s Commercial and Surety departments, specializing in renewable energy. With a strong finance background and insurance knowledge, Fred received his Certified Insurance Councilor (CIC) designation in 1989. He joined MMA in 2001 after developing and owning Siphers/Thomas Insurance. Fred has served 19 years in the Montana Legislature, four years as Senate Majority Leader. He is past president of the National Professional Insurance Agents Association, Washington, D.C. Fred is very active in his community: coached little league and soccer, headed-up building a baseball diamond four plex, bridge to the river for the local bike pathway, and heads-up the effort to build a community center. Fred is an active member of his community and is a proud member of the MMA team bringing our clients exceptional value.
